Description
From now until January 10, 2021 (The puzzles sold out early!) David Barnhill and I are doing a special promotion for this puzzle while supplies last. For every Chromatic Strata puzzle you purchase you will have one chance to win a mokume gane puzzle piece pin David Barnhill has made. Since there are only 12 of the puzzles left your odds are pretty good! You need not do anything special to enter beyond purchasing one of the Chromatic Strata puzzles. (Just to be absolutely clear, purchasing any of the other 3 puzzles I have available does NOT get you entered, only this puzzle does.) In order to make selecting the winner free from bias come time for the drawing I will give every order I get a number, not telling Mr. Barnhill who has ordered or what number they are. Then he will select a winning number. We will then announce the winner and ship out the pin. If you purchase more than one copy of the puzzle you will get more than one chance to win. If all 12 remaining puzzles sell before January 10 then we will do the drawing early. Oh, and this is limited to US sales only because that’s where my shipping is limited to. You can thank David Barnhill for coming up with this fun extra little promotion. If you don’t want to wait and see if you won the pin and would just like to purchase one he has made a limited number of extra pins that are for sale. He will be posting them on his Instagram page with details about how to purchase. I’ll add an image of the pin in the extra images for this puzzle. Unfortunately the automatic formatting of this product page doesn’t let me add images how I’d like. To see more images of the pin you can go back to this page. Sorry for the clunky post. We have now drawn the winner for the mokume puzzle piece pin. It is Leslie McMillian! Congratulations, Leslie. Thanks to everyone who entered!
This 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle is based on Layered Resplendence #69, a collaborative work by artists David Barnhill and David Huang. It highlights the complicated metal layering technique called mokume gane. To see more work by David Barnhill visit his website, davidabarnhill.com. (To see more work by David Huang just keep wandering around this site, since it is my website.)
I feel I should add now that the puzzles have arrived and I can see them in person for the first time, the pieces are not as thick as I would have wished. Comparing them with several other brands I have here at home they are the same as some of them so I’ll say these are in the range of normal thickness. They are just on the thin side of normal. I realize this is picky point for some puzzlers so I felt I should note it upfront. On the plus side there is a very nice variety of piece size and shape, making for a much more enjoyable puzzle experience in my opinion.
