Collaborative works with David Barnhill
I've begun an ongoing collaborative effort with metalsmith, David Barnhill. We are working to make raised and chased vessels using mokume gane, a Japanese metal lamination technique. David Barnhill is handling the mokume gane part, working to successfully fuse different metals together, pattern the billets, and hammer them down to usable sheet. I will then be raising and chasing them. The fun comes with trying to take his work with the patterning of the mokume gane and fit that to chased designs. We'll see where this all leads. It's been fun so far.
I'm going to photo document my side of the making of our first larger vessel in this album. David Barnhill has documented his side of this piece HERE.
