Hexagonal Hpx 678
Ok, I don't really know where this fits in the overall scheme of my work just yet so I'm putting it in this catch all album. This piece was made at a workshop Betty Helen Longhi taught where I was learning some of her shell forming techniques. This piece was done through anticlastic raising techniques. Technically, it's a hyperbolic paraboloid extension made from a 6 inch diameter hexagon. I applied gold leaf to one side and patina to the other. It was fun to make, but the form itself seems rather limited for further exploration. Anyway, it's made from copper and 23-karat gold leaf. The approximate size is 2.5" x 4.5" x 4.5".
